Brad Pitt took a hilarious jab at Prince Harry and Meghan Markle in his acceptance speech at the 2020 EE British Academy Film Awards (BAFTAs). On Sunday (Feb. 2), Pitt continued his awards season sweep when he won Best Supporting Actor at the BAFTAs for his role in “Once Upon A Time in Hollywood.”

Brad Pitt did not make it to the awarding ceremony due to “family obligations,” but his co-star Margot Robbie was there to accept his award on his behalf. Without him even being there, Pitt made sure to treat the crowd to yet another hilarious acceptance speech, this time referencing to Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s recent decision to step down as senior members of the British royal family.

“Hey Britain, heard you just became single—welcome to the club,” Pitt said in his acceptance speech read by Robbie. “Wishing you the best with the divorce settlement,” he added.

Robbie also revealed Pitt’s plan to name his award “Harry,” drawing laughs from the crowd. “He says he is going to name this Harry because he is really excited about bringing it back to the States with him. His words, not mine,” Robbie said. Prince William and Kate Middleton, who were in attendance that night, were spotted laughing at the gag with the rest of the audience.

It can be recalled that last month, Prince Harry and Meghan announced their decision to step back from their royal duties to live normal lives and split their time between North America and the U.K. They are currently in an undisclosed location in Canada.

Meanwhile, Pitt has become a crowd favorite during the 2020 awards season because of his hilarious acceptance speeches. On Jan. 20, he attended the Screen Actors Guild (SAG) Awards and proved he also had comedy chops to boot when he joked about being on Tinder. “I’m going to add this to my Tinder profile,” he said when he accepted his award.

Pitt went on to joke about his role in “Once Upon a Time in Hollywood,” stuntman Cliff Booth, and make a droll jibe at his ex-wife, Angelina Jolie. “Let’s be honest, it was a difficult part: A guy who gets high, takes his shirt off and doesn’t get on with his wife,” he said. “It was a big stretch,” he added.
