‘Call Of Duty: Ghosts’ Upgrade Plans: $10 Upgrade From PS3 To PS4 And Xbox 360 To Xbox One, Free With Season Pass

"Call of Duty: Ghosts" is the latest title from Activision that launched today for the Xbox 360 and PlayStation 3 game consoles. This month will also see the debut of Microsoft's and Sony's next generation of consoles, which might put off gamers in purchasing the latest version of the "Call of Duty" franchise. Fear not though as the game publisher announced an upgrade plan that will allow gamers to buy a copy for their current system and then trade it in for $10 when you acquire your new console. However, if you have a Season Pass that retails for $49.99 will be able to upgrade for free to a PS4 and Xbox One version of the game. The Season Pass includes access to four DLC map packs and extra multiplayer character customizations.

For gamers of "Call of Duty: Ghosts" that don't have the Season Pass and are upgrading from the PS4 to Xbox 360, the upgrade will cost $10. Every physical copy of COD for PS3 will include a reedemable code for the discounted downloadble version of the game on PS4. If PS3 players buy the digital version, they will also be given the opportunity to download and upgrade to the PS4 version at the discounted rate. Xbox gamers can purchase a disc-less dual-lucense digital version of COD, that retails for $70 that includes versions for the Xbox 360 and the Xbox One. If players buy via the Game Ahead Program, they can purchase the game from the Xbox Live Marketplace for $60 and when ready to upgrade to the new console pay the extra $10.

The Microsoft store has a different approach and they will be handling the upgrades as a trade-in. Gamers can bring in their copy for Xbox 360 and trade it in later for the Xbox One version for $10, while Amazon is doing so with a $25 bonus credit toward the Xbox One version. For Best Buy shoppers, when they purchase the 360 version of the game, they will receive a $10 coupon via e-mail to use towards the Xbox One version when it becomes available.
