A Capitol rioter pardoned by President Donald Trump has been arrested in Virginia for allegedly breaking into a home just four months after his release from prison.

Zachary Jordan Alam, 33, of Centreville, Virginia, was convicted for his role in the January 6, 2021, Capitol attack, where he assaulted police officers and shattered the speaker's lobby window moments before Ashli Babbitt was fatally shot. He was sentenced to eight years in prison but was granted a presidential pardon in early 2025 after vocally demanding one from behind bars.

On May 9, Henrico County police allege Alam unlawfully entered a home around 8:30 p.m. through a rear door, WUSA 9 reported. The homeowners reportedly encountered him inside the residence, prompting Alam to flee the scene.

Officers apprehended him shortly afterward in a nearby neighborhood. He now faces charges of breaking and entering and vandalism. Alam is currently being held at Henrico County Regional Jail West while awaiting court proceedings.

Alam's arrest adds to a growing list of post-pardon criminal incidents involving former January 6 defendants.
