A man named Tyler Robinson, 22, has been identified as the main suspect in the killing of conservative activist Charlie Kirk. President Donald Trump confirmed the arrest, and Utah and FBI authorities confirmed that he was arrested in the city of Washington, Utah, where his family resided.

The name of Tyler Robinson was leaked to the media soon after Trump appeared unscheduled on Fox News to announce that a suspect was arrested.

Utah Governor Spencer Cox explained that Robinson was detained in the city of Washington, Utah, where he resided with his family. He was turned in by a family member, and the authorities have interviewed his inner circle, including a roommate, who shared texts revealing details about the rifle allegedly used in the murder.

FBI director Kash Patel added that Robinson "is not a student at Utah Valley University" and that he had driven from Washington to the city of Orem, where the crime was committed.

Who is Tyler Robinson?

According to the Facebook of his mother, Amber Robinson, the man graduated in 2023 from the University of Utah, earning a Bachelor of Science in Accounting. He graduated with a 4.0 GPA in high school and received a national scholarship to attend college, valued at $32,000.

He is the eldest child and has two younger siblings, both boys.

According to statements made by the family member who turned him in, Robinson had become more political in the last few years and "was filled with hate."

The announcement of his arrest marks the first time authorities have publicly named a suspect in the high-profile murder. Investigators said they are continuing to gather evidence and he will be charged soon. Trump had said that the government was asking for the death penalty.
