A Florida police department released a video on Tuesday, chastising a Chicago police officer who used racial slurs and shoved a security guard at the River Ranch Resort after being asked to move his golf cart.
Sheriff Grady Judd revealed in his morning briefing that Dwayne Ocasio, a 32-year-old Chicago Police Department officer, was arrested Friday evening after he assaulted a security guard who politely asked him to move his golf cart out of the road.
"You know what this guy did?" Judd asked in a video shared to Facebook Tuesday. "He cussed the security guard, used a racial slur. That's right, and then pushed the security guard. So of course, the security officer being very smart, retreated and called the sheriff's office."
After spending about 10 minutes knocking on Ocasio's door, Judd revealed the suspect said from inside the room, "'I don't give a blank what the Polk County Sheriff's Office or who the Polk County Sheriff's Office is,' and then he opened the door."
Ocasio was arrested and charged with battery. He was also relieved of his police powers, according to CBS News, and assigned to the department's Alternate Response Section.
"Now he knows who the Polk County Sheriff's Office is when we put him in the Polk County jail," Judd added. "I bet the people of Chicago are not happy with him using racial slurs and battering somebody and giving our deputies a hard time."
"[It would have] been a lot better for him if he had just been nice and cooperated," the sheriff continued. "He learned a new lesson in Polk County, Florida," Judd added.
