Conservatives have taken to social media to criticize a Democratic legislator after he demanded that Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard stop releasing documents and information pertaining to allegations of Russian interference in the 2016 elections.

Connecticut Rep. Jim Himes spoke about the alleged Russian collusion during the 2016 presidential election during an appearance on CBS News' Face The Nation on Sunday.

In conversation with host Margaret Brennan, Himes, who is also a ranking member of the House Intelligence Committee, stated that information being released by Gabbard regarding the Obama administration's involvement in the alleged Russian collusion was entirely fabricated.

"What you saw from the Director of National Intelligence Tulsi Gabbard was not just a lie, but a very dangerous lie. When you start throwing around language like sedition and treason, somebody's going to get hurt," Himes began.

"The Senate committee, then led by Marco Rubio, a Republican now Secretary of State, found unanimously that Russia meddled in the election to try to assist Donald Trump... What Tulsi is doing is a little sleight of hand but it's worth focusing on," he continued.

"The intelligence community is full of very, very good people who do their jobs every single day and now they're watching their leader do something that each and every one of them knows is dishonest and it is a really bad thing for the safety and security of the American people," he added.

Conservatives then furiously took to online platforms to disagree with Himes, encouraging Gabbard to continue releasing files pertaining to the Russian collusion allegations.

"[Rep. Himes] can go f--k himself. They destroyed people's lives in pursuit of Trump who threatened their corruption. I hope everything is released and we finally get to see the crimes every one of them committed," wrote one user.

"When you rig an election, still lose, and the winner is about to declassify everything," said the text on an image of President Obama shared by another user.

"ARREST OBAMA," another wrote in big letters.

"This is how brazen the democrats are. Catch them in the political crime of the century, and they pretend that we've some something wrong for exposing their crimes," added one user.
