Couple Lured Woman With Promise Of Work Before Rape And Murder

Police in Telangana, India arrested a couple who confessed to the rape and murder of a 35-year-old woman. 30-year-old Kuruva Swamy and his 30-year-old partner Masanamolla Narsamma were arrested after the body of the victim was found in a secluded hillock.

The couple reportedly had committed a slew of other crimes including kidnapping and theft. It is believed that they often duped women looking for work by taking them to isolated places and robbing them of their belongings.

The unmarried couple had been living together for eight years in the Bollaram Industrial Area of Hyderabad, Telangana, The Hindu reported. They had been having financial troubles due to their addiction to alcohol and other substances. To make a quick buck they had resorted to robbing women of their belongings.

On Sunday, July 25 the couple spotted a woman in Mallampet, Hyderabad. They targeted the woman so that they could rob her of her jewelry. Approaching the woman, the couple informed her that they had a job for her. The woman who worked as a laborer agreed to join the couple. The couple informed her that they would be painting the walls of a temple.

Accompanying the couple, the victim rode on Swamy’s bike. He drove the two women to an isolated rocky hillock of Ankiralagutta, Hyderabad. According to The Hans India, the women got into an argument. Another source claims that Narsamma told the victim to allow the man to have sexual intercourse with her. When the woman refused to have sexual intercourse with Swamy, the couple attacked her.

Narsamma and Swami overpowered the woman as the man raped her. After raping the victim, the couple killed her to prevent her from reporting the crime. They removed her silver anklets, gold earrings and gold necklace before fleeing from the spot.

Police were alerted of the crime when the woman’s body was found. Surveillance footage and a tip-off helped the police take the couple into custody.

In police custody, the couple confessed to the rape, murder and theft. They also confessed to attacking two other women and robbing them in a similar manner. Police are investigating the incident. The charges against the couple have not been disclosed by the police.
