Cristian Castro has been the center of controversy for the past couple of weeks, first due to his lighting wedding and then for his surprising divorce from Carol Victoria Urban only 28 days after they tied the knot. Now the Mexican singer has started the divorce process in Mérida, Yucatán, where the couple wed. According to Diario Basta it is Carol's sister that is representing her in the trial and in less than a month the marriage could be dissolved as they are both in agreement.

The outlet got a hold of Cristian's estranged wife to get her take on the divorce, but she did not reveal much on the situation. "I can imagine you are contacting me about the separation," she said. "Thank you for your interest, but I apologize that I don't want to take this call. I hope you can put yourself in my situation, and due to the fact I am not used to people speculating about my personal life. I appreciate the respect you have shown me about my decision about maintaining myself from the limelight. About me, I can only say that I continue my activities in music and I am finishing my master's degree in Italy and I will be retaking my daily activities."

Meanwhile in Argentina, Cristian visited "Showmatch" during the "Bailando 2017" finale where he as asked about his divorce. "Should I say it in Argentina or Mexican?," the singer joked with the presenter Marcelo Tinelli. "What happens is that I always bet on love rapidly and it always turns out bad. We rushed it, we bet to lose a lot or to gain a lot and we ended up losing a lot." Castro poked fun at the host's multiple divorces saying, "I wanted to beat your record Tinelli," to which the presenter acknowledged he had two divorces and Cristian said: "That's why, I am about to have three."

Cristian Castro continued playing around and said that one of the reasons his marriage didn't work was because of Pampita, an Argentine model that served as a judge on the show. The singer said that he was waiting to have a shot with her, but Tinelli reminded him that she was with tennis player Juan "Pico" Mónaco. Various outlets in Argentina are noting that Pampita seemed overly-excited at the presence of Castro and was seen singing and dancing to his hits.

Mónaco even took to Twitter to join in on the fun tweeting: "[Marcelo Tinelli] please don't let Cristian Castro sing anymore."

Following 28 days of marriage, Cristian Castro confirmed the rumors that he had split from his wife during their honeymoon. "Obviously I am appalled, concerned because this is not a joke, it's not a game and well, too bad," he said on an Argentine show. "My life has been marked like this. I play for marriage too fast sometimes and for love and then you realize that we don't get along. That is the truth."

"The official version is that we don't know each other well, we didn't give us time to get to know one another," he added. "That is the real version and that is why all these things happened, misunderstandings. There were character traits from both of us that we didn't see beforehand." About when the breakup happened he said: "It was during the honeymoon, we ended it 28 days after getting married. It's shameful, I am ashamed, but that how destiny made it happen, I fulfilled in trying to make things right and I think she did the same as well, but it simply wasn't meant to be."
