Portuguese superstar Cristiano Ronaldo posted a cryptic message on Instagram as the footballer worked on his fitness in the gym without a club.

The star, who has 517 million followers on Instagram, filmed while he was shirtless in a gym, reported The Sun. The footballer focussed on a TV screen playing a Portuguese song, which has lyrics that translate to "You don’t know about me. Don’t cry more for me." He appeared to have sent the message to his doubters on his Instagram story.

After his contract was mutually terminated at Manchester United last month, the 37-year-old is currently a free agent. It happened after an explosive interview with TV personality Piers Morgan. In the interview, Ronaldo slammed Manchester United and the club's new manager Erik ten Hag for lacking respect.

Even at the FIFA World Cup 2022, he was dropped for Portugal's last two games. It happened after an alleged row with the team's boss Fernando Santos. He suffered disappointment at the recently concluded World Cup as Portugal was defeated in the quarter-final stage by Morocco. He was dropped for the round of 16 match against Switzerland, where his replacement Goncalo Ramos scored three goals, making him star of the moment.

He was again left out of the starting line-up against Morocco and was unable to do much when he came on as a substitute. He has still not made any comment after the exit of Santos last week, and the star's end of World Cup journey in tears.

He is focused on finding a new club to continue his footballing career, but fans have been speculating the five-time Ballon d'Or winner might now be ready to hang up his boots. Ronaldo was believed to have been approached to move to Saudi Arabia by Al Nassr, but he is yet to accept the deal.

He will celebrate his 38th birthday in February, but the star remains determined to keep playing football at the highest possible level and extend his career, reported Mirror. After World Cup, he had been training with his former club Real Madrid, but it seems highly unlikely that it will hand him a contract.
