Officials at a Texas high school say a severed rabbit's head was discovered in a boys' restroom, accompanied by a disturbing note and drawing, prompting an immediate investigation.

The incident unfolded Monday morning at Hutto High School when administrators were alerted to the grisly display in one of the school's bathrooms, the school's principal Ryan Burns confirmed in a letter to parents.

The severed rabbit head was reportedly placed alongside a handwritten message and a drawing of a dead rabbit—elements that raised alarm among both students and staff.

Burns said that the materials were promptly removed, though not before several students had seen them. Administrators contacted campus security and the Hutto Independent School District police, launching an investigation to identify who was responsible.

By the following day, the suspect had been identified and was facing "appropriate disciplinary consequences," Burns wrote in an update obtained by KXAN.

James Gazzale, a spokesperson for Hutto ISD, told the outlet that the district was pursuing criminal charges in addition to school-based discipline. School officials did not clarify the motive or identity of the student involved.
