Raúl Méndez returns to Telemundo Casillas dynasty

Mexican actor Raúl Méndez confirmed his return to the Telemundo network , this time as part of the cast of La Dinastía Castillas , the spin-off of El Señor de los Cielos , which began filming this week in Mexico City.

"I'm very happy to be returning to Telemundo," Méndez said in a statement to the program Al Rojo Vivo . Between jokes and omissions, the actor addressed only the rumors circulating on social media that his return to the Casillas universe means he'll be reprising his beloved role of El Chacorta.

"Since I'm from the North (of Mexico), I coach the actors on how to pronounce correctly," he responded to questions from Jessica Carrillo and Lourdes Stephen on the subject. However, his words did little to distract from his role in the production, which stars Iván Arana as Ismael Castillas, Isabella Castillo as his cousin Diana, and Colombian actress María Fernanda Yépez.

However, it was the comment of Thalí García, who was also part of the cast of El Señor de los Cielos, that confirmed for many that 'El Chacorta Is Back'.

"CHACORTAAAAAA OMG 😍😍😍🔥🔥🔥🔥 WE LOVE YOUR RETURN!!!", wrote the actress.

However, the biggest debate online concerns the creative difficulty of reviving the character. El Chacorta was executed by José María "El Chema" Venegas, who decapitated him as an act of revenge against Aurelio Casillas in the third season.

Chacorta's head was sent to Aurelio in a box, marking a turning point in history and unleashing a new wave of violence and reprisals.

The Casillas Dynasty

In addition to the protagonists, the Telemundo production features the performances of Roberto Sosa, Robinson Diaz, Plutarco Haza, Ianis Guerrero, Karen Sandoval, David Palacio, Ximena Gonzalez Rubio, Gonzalo Vega Jr., Ana Gonzalez Bello, Alan Slim, Wendy de los Cobos, Carlos Corona, Leonardo Alvarez, Alejandro Aguilar, Christian Gnecco, Alexis Juarez, Luciana Silveyra, Vanessa Acosta, David Ponce, Florencia Rios, Ana Sofia Gatica, Jesusa Ochoa, and Sandra Quiroz.

According to Telemundo, the story begins when "Diana and Ismael Casillas embark on a mission to free Aurelio and Rutila, when a series of unexpected events forces them to rethink their strategies and alliances. They must fight for control of the cartel in an environment where enemies lurk around every corner. With old ghosts returning and new conflicts emerging, their path leads them to an explosive confrontation against the El Gancho cartel. To do so, they seek the support of Elizabeth, Chema's ex-wife, who sees an opportunity to leave her life in Milan to return to the world of crime, fight for territories, gain power and ultimately ally with the Casillas. Will they manage to survive and reinvent themselves, or will their empire fall?"

"Bringing Ismael Casillas back to life is a privilege and an exciting challenge," said Iván Arana, star of 'La Dinastía Casillas.' "This new chapter pushes power, loyalty, and survival to the limits, immersing audiences in a world of suspense and constant action. It's a powerful evolution of the Casillas story, full of unexpected twists and intensity from the very first moment."

Produced by Telemundo Studios, this series was written by Juan Camilo Ferrand and directed by Javier Fox Patrón, Mauricio Corredor, and Laura Marco Lavilla. Juan Carlos Lazo, Ricardo Garfias, and Alejandro Téllez are the directors of photography, with Marisa Pecanins serving as production designer. Telemundo's Mónica Vizzi is the executive producer, and Mabel Vargas is the general producer of the series.
