Dion Waiters’ panic attack while on their way to Los Angeles was a “scary situation” for the Miami Heat and it was all caused by taking an “edible” per reports from ESPN. He didn’t play that game against the Los Angeles Lakers and is listed as out due to illness.

The 27-year old guard reportedly ingested at least one THC-infused edible and had a bad reaction to his body. NBA listed THC, an active ingredient of marijuana, as one of the prohibited substances by the league.

Waiters reportedly suffered a stomachache right after their victory against the Suns in Phoenix and he was already seeking for relief, USA Today reports said. The pain was right after ingesting an unfamiliar substance and received medical treatment when the plane landed in Los Angeles.

Without Waiters, who haven’t played yet this season, the Heat crushed Phoenix via 124-108 win. Jimmy Butler led Miami with 34 points, making all his 10 shots from the free-throw line, and added five boards and four dimes. Rookies Kendrick Nunn and Tyler Herro had a combined 26 markers on 5-of-8 shooting from beyond the arc.

Aron Baynes spearheaded Suns’ offense with 23 points and four rebounds while Devin Booker added 22 points, five assists, three rebounds and a steal. Phoenix saw their three-game winning streak come to an end with the loss while Miami was at 5-2 and was able to come back from their loss in Denver.

The team earlier suspended the 6-foot-3 guard for taking a shot that was indirectly but believed to be pointed at Heat coach Erik Spoelstra for his minutes being eaten up by a rookie.

Both Bosh and Wade retired from playing basketball this year. Bosh’s jersey retired by the Heat on this year and said he’s “not pursuing an NBA career anymore” while Wade just played his final game at home, finishing with a triple-double. James is currently leading the Los Angeles Lakers with prized acquisition Anthony Davis. The trio won back-to-back titles for the Heat in 2012 and 2013 season with Spoelstra.

As the new broke out, reactions came flooding to speak their minds through social media about the guard’s situation.

Both Herro and Nunn have been playing great this season so it will be very interesting to see how Waiters will crack the Heat’s rotation once he recovers from this.
