A dad from Humble, Texas was killed on Friday, Dec. 31, after an argument with a car owner, who almost crashed his vehicle against the victim's, which led to the dad being gunned down in front of the area’s Chuck E. Cheese.

Twenty-four-year-old Calogero Duenes had just arrived with his family to celebrate his six-year-old daughter’s birthday, with the children and their mother Amber Uresti entering the restaurant first while Duenes unloaded things from the car, the New York Post reported.

Duenes then reportedly got into an argument with a man driving a black Ford vehicle who almost hit him while he was carrying a cake into the establishment. Uresti then heard him scream and ran to him as he was lying on the road with gunshot wounds to his body, according to the New York Daily News.

“It’s a tragedy. I really can’t wrap my head around it. Like, I’m hurt. I can’t understand how someone can do that to someone that’s holding a cake,” Uresti said. “We just went to go celebrate my daughter’s sixth birthday. I mean, that’s all he was tasked with. That’s all he had on him was a cake.”

Duenes was taken to a local hospital where he died. Police are investigating the murder and looking for the suspect that they identified using camera footage as the driver of a black Ford. Amber Uresti’s sister Rosemarie has set up a GoFundMe page to pay for Duene’s funeral expenses, NBC News reported.

“I feel so sorry for my nieces,” Rosemarie Uresti said. “They have to grow up without a father now. He was a good father. He did everything for them.”

“My daughter has been crying,” Amber Uresti said. “She slept last night with her father’s shirt, crying until she fell asleep, and it breaks my heart. There’s nothing I can tell her. There’s no words to tell her other than, ‘Daddy is with you in your heart. He loves you.’”
