Have you figured out how to celebrate Father’s Day 2022 and what to gift your dad? While June is generally attributed to be the perfect time to tie the knot and being a June bride is what all the fuss is about at this time of the year, Father’s Day seems to find many confused as to when they’re supposed to shower their dads with one-of-a-kind gifts and memorable dad activities.

When is Father’s Day?

Each year, Father’s Day date changes. Perhaps this may be the reason why those last-minute panic-buying gifts for dads have been the norm for most as it can get a bit confusing. Father’s Day falls on the third Sunday of June. And so for the year 2022, mark your calendar on June 19. Most likely not many dads would even remember this day but that makes your surprise even sweeter!

Why is Father’s Day celebrated in June?

History tells us that Father’s Day had its beginnings sometime in the year 1910. A woman named Sonora Smart Dodd is said to be behind the yearly appreciation day for fathers, having been raised by a single father herself. She had heard a sermon in church that honored mothers in the month of May and the following month, Dodd decided to hold the first Father’s Day celebration on June 19 in Spokane, Washington. In 1966, President Johnson issued the first presidential proclamation that honored fathers. He officially made the third Sunday of June a day to honor and appreciate fathers.
