MIAMI — Actress, singer, and storyteller Fernanda Romero has turned a new creative page, literally. Known for her roles in film and television, Romero is now sharing her imagination with a younger audience through her debut bilingual children's book, Colores del Mundo, a project born out of motherhood, cultural pride, and a love for storytelling.

The book follows Sebastián and his curious raccoon friend, Pachi, as they travel around the world discovering animals, colors, and cultures. Each page celebrates the beauty of diversity and the joy of learning two languages at once. "Colores del Mundo is about friendship, kindness, and the joy of being yourself," Romero said, explaining that she wanted to create something that could help children learn Spanish and English in a fun, natural way

During her conversation with The Latin Times, Romero shared that the idea came from her own experience as a bilingual mom. "There weren't enough books that I could read to my son (Sebastián) in both languages," she said. "Everything was either all in English or all in Spanish. I wanted him to feel proud of both sides of who he is, of our roots, and understand that speaking two languages is a superpower"

For Romero, Pachi the raccoon is a symbol of imagination and companionship. "I've always had raccoons around," she laughed. "When I was single, they used to sneak into my apartment. Now I even have a family of raccoons outside my house. They're mysterious, playful, and curious, just like kids. So, I thought, what better travel companion for Sebastián than Pachi?"

The actress, now a mom of two, revealed that the project began as a bonding activity with her son, using a raccoon puppet to inspire creative play. "We would do everything together with the puppet, make orange juice, paint, organize the room," she said. "I realized how much he loved it, and I thought maybe other parents could connect through something like this too"

.That realization became the seed for Colores del Mundo, which she describes as the first installment in a planned series about Sebastián and Pachi. "I'd love to keep expanding their universe," Romero said. "Sebastián can be any child who dreams, who wants to travel, and who dares to imagine. That's the beauty of it: it's not just a story, it's an invitation to explore."

Travel is a central theme in the book, inspired by Romero's own childhood. Her father, a pilot, introduced her early to the wonders of seeing the world. "Traveling opens your eyes in so many ways," she reflected. "You learn from different cultures, colors, and perspectives. That's the feeling I wanted to bring to kids, curiosity and appreciation for how beautiful our planet is."

The book's rhythmic storytelling and sweet illustrations make learning effortless and joyful. "It's something parents can read one night in English and the next in Spanish," she said. "The rhymes help the words stick, and it becomes a fun ritual."

Beyond writing, Romero continues to act and explore other creative ventures, including music and her wellness brand, Vita Perfume. "The beautiful thing about being an artist," she said, "is that you can evolve. Life inspires you, and you just follow that inspiration."

Colores del Mundo is now available on Amazon, Barnes & Noble, Walmart, and TV.com. As Romero put it, "I hope it helps parents connect with their children and makes them proud to celebrate both languages, both cultures, because the world really is full of colors."
