The production of the “Fifty Shades of Grey” movie is in full swing. Despite a rocky start, witch a few casting and location changes, E.L. James’ erotica novel is coming to life right before our eyes. In recent behind-the-scenes photos, fans have been able to keep up to date with the filming and production, knowing exactly what scene actors, Jamie Dornan and Dakota Johnson, are shooting. In early January, fans were delighted to see the pair in character as naïve college student Anastasia Steele and brilliant billionaire Christian Grey, filing on location in Vancouver. With the dropping temperatures and inclement weather, the team was forced to quickly relocate shooting to Miami. Fans were devastated by the news, jumping to initial conclusions that all three books would be adapted into one film, however, James took to Twitter to clear up any misunderstandings stating, "three books. Three films. :)."
But fans can rest easy because “Fifty Shades of Grey” is back in Vancouver and have just shot one of the more iconic moments in the first book of the three part series. The pressure was on for both Dornan and Johnson as the recreated the moment Christian gifts Anastasia with a brand new car. Fans of the novel will remember that Christian Grey declares Ana’s cherished VW Beetle, too dangerous for her to drive. Despite her enjoying driving the obsolete vehicle, which she fondly refers to as “Wanda” throughout the novel, Christian decides to replace the unsafe car with a red Audi A3. Not only is the car top of line, and luxurious, it appeals to Christian due to its impressive safety measures. Ana who has a penchant for nicknaming her cars, refers to the opulent gift as “The Submissive Special,” because her lover has purchased the same car, labeled the “safest car on the market,” for each of his submissive partners in the past.
The actors certainly looked the part, with Johnson sporting a grey halter dress, the actress wore her hair down in loose curls. For the romantic scene, she wore natural makeup, showing off her true beauty, while still staying true to Anastasia’s no fuss style. As for Jamie Dornan, the hunky actor looked every inch Christian Grey, paring a perfectly tailored and pressed black suit with a grey tie and pocket square. During filming the pair can be seen walking together, before Christian insists on covering Ana’s eyes to implement the element of surprise before gifting her the car.
