'Flappy Bird' Will Stop Flapping
It's game over for 'Flappy Bird,' the popular mobile game as developer decides to take down the game on Sunday. FlappyBird

Flappy Bird will be making it's last flaps this weekend as the Vietnamese developer has decided to take down the game from the iOS App Store and Google Play Store. "I am sorry 'Flappy Bird' users, 22 hours from now, I will take 'Flappy Bird' down. I cannot take this anymore," Dong Nguyen wrote on Twitter. "It is not anything related to legal issues. I just cannot keep it anymore." He later added, "I also don't sell 'Flappy Bird', please don't ask. And I still make games." Maybe the sudden popularity of the game has stressed Nguyen, but could he be more stressed than players trying to get past the first pipe? Could this be a marketing ploy to have more game downloads?

Flappy Bird became a viral sensation this week and has topped both the iOS and Google Play store this week. The game had a simple concept, have Flappy flap through green pipes and see how many he could cross. The 8-bit game seemed easy but frustrated users as it was a little more difficult than its first appearance. Our flying friend nose-dives down to the ground at the minimal hit of a pipe and enfuriates gamers once the "Game Over" letters appear across the screen. The bird doesn't pick up where he left off, it goes right back to the beginning and forcing players to start the adventure from zero.

"Flappy Bird" was created by Vietnamese developer, Dong Nguyen, who created the game in 2-3 days. "I made the game alone," he told Chocolate Lab Apps. "The bird in Flappy Bird, I actually drew in 2012 to use in a platformer game but the project was cancelled. In my games, there is no impossible situations that players cannot pass." The game has used little to no promotion and has become a viral hit thanks to social networks. Nguyen added, "I didn’t use any promotion methods. All accounts on Twitter, Facebook and Instagram about Flappy Bird are not mine. The popularity could be my luck." Are you sad Flappy Bird will be taken down? Share your highest scores down below!
