For those who don’t remember it, 'Flappy Bird' was an addictive game created in 2013 by GEARS Studios and then removed by its owner a bit later. While people in Venezuela awaited the game’s return, they created a version of it called ‘El platanito’ created by a developer called SOFKA, in which the President of Venezuela, Nicolás Maduro was dressed as a banana and the dynamic was pretty much as the original FB game. This time, it was the Mexicans’ turn to get creative, so they came up with a version of the game called ‘Flappy Peña’, which shows Enrique Peña Nieto flying on, what else, but a seagull.

‘Flappy Peña’ is a game for Android, which launched on February 6, presenting an almost identical dynamic than the original: you have to make your character of choice fly without touching any obstacles… or they will die the very second it touches one. Now, the fun doesn’t stop there; every time Peña’s character crashes (and dies), it says one of the President’s many phrases he’s made famous. Perhaps it says some like, “No fue penal,” which was meant to be “No era penal,” like the hashtag. Or perhaps he’ll say “Ya se que aquí no aplauden,” after no one clapped at an official announcement he made during a press conference. Thankfully, the selection can be very varied; not to mention, hilarious.

The game was launched by “Nopalito Games” and is only available on Google Play with a description that reads: “We all know the situation, so there is no need for an explanation.” The game has almost 10,000 downloads and over 400 reviews which are mostly positive.
