"The Flash" series star Grant Gustin has announced that The CW superhero series is taking on the DC Comics' famous "Flashpoint" storyline. Gustin took to Twitter to reveal that the Season 3 premiere episode will be titled "Flashpoint." Gustin tweeted, "Flashpoint." "This is not a drill."

Until now, the cast and production team for "The Flash" have been quiet regarding the rumored "Flashpoint" storyline coming to the show but it finally looks like it is happening. The series has very clearly set the stage for the "Flashpoint" storyline by sending Barry Allen back in time to save his mother Nora from being murdered by Reverse-Flash. But by doing so, he created an alternate timeline where his future is completely different.

Meanwhile, "The Flash" is seeking an actor for a new mysterious series regular role. According to TV Line, the recurring character is expected to be an inquisitive contemporary to Barry, who is "as smart as he is intuitive." The problem with this characters curiosity, however, is that he does not take anything at face value.

The site further shared that the character is hiding a secret of his own, while he takes it upon himself to discover what makes Barry Tick. Based on the character's description and The Flash's past, we can guess that this could be the scientist Edwin Gauss the Folded Man, Curt Engstrom the Alchemist or even Alexander Petrov who is also Mister Element.

The CW's "The Flash" stars Gustin as Barry Allen/The Flash, Candice Patton as Iris West, Danielle Panabaker as Caitlin Snow, Carlos Valdes as Cisco Ramon, Tom Cavanagh as Dr. Harrison Wells and Jesse L. Martin as Detective Joe West. Season 2 of the series also introduced Keiynan Lonsdale as Wally West and the Earth-2 version of The Flash played by John Wesley Shipp, who also played Barry’s father, Henry Allen.

"The Flash" Season 3 will premiere Tuesday, Oct. 4 at 8 p.m. ET.
