A Florida man has been arrested months after allegedly holding a young boy at gunpoint, threatening to kill him, and asking the victim's mother if he could shoot her son, according to authorities.
Victor Colon, 62, was taken into custody on July 17 and charged with armed robbery with a firearm or deadly weapon in connection with a violent incident that occurred on December 14, 2023, Local 10 reported. According to the arrest report, the victim told deputies he was playing video games at his mother's home near the 20000 block of Northwest 52nd Avenue when Colon, described as a friend of the victim's mother, barged into the room yelling profanities.
The situation escalated when the victim tried to leave while recording the encounter. Colon allegedly pulled a gun, took the phone, and forced the victim to sit down. Deputies said Colon pointed the gun at the victim's head and said, "I should kill you." He reportedly unchambered a round, pointed the gun again, and pulled the trigger. No round fired. Colon then allegedly said, "I should bury you in the back with the rest of them," and slapped the victim in the face multiple times.
At one point, police say Colon turned to the victim's mother and asked if he could shoot him to which she replied, "No." The victim was eventually able to retrieve his phone and flee when Colon went to the bathroom. Before escaping, he snapped a photo of Colon's license plate. That image helped investigators track Colon down, and the victim later identified him from a photo lineup.
Colon is currently in custody, without bond, at the Turner Guilford Knight Correctional Center.
