A substitute teacher in Central Florida is accused of sexually harassing a student.

Officials said Ayanna Davis, 20, allegedly acknowledged having unprotected sex with a student at least four times, including twice at her home and twice at his home.

A student at Lakeland High School told investigators there was a Snapchat video that shows Davis having sex with another child, according to the Polk County Sheriff's Office.

According to the student, a big crowd of football players saw the footage. Officials have not examined the footage yet. But they are working to locate it.

"This is a clear violation of sexual battery laws. She was in a position of influence over the victim, and she took advantage of that for her own twisted pleasure," Sheriff Grady Judd said in a statement.

Davis was charged by the sheriff's office with two counts of sexual battery by a caretaker and offenses against students by an authority figure after her interview with police. The Lakeland Police Department also charged her with two more counts of sexual battery.

On Dec. 11, she appeared in court for the first time, and a $60,000 bond was set for all five offenses. The New York Post said that she will be arraigned on Jan. 10, 2022.

Davis, according to officials, is not a Polk County Public Schools employee. But she worked as a substitute teacher at Lakeland High School via the staffing firm Kelly Education Services.

Officials added that Davis has been told that he is no longer allowed to work in Polk County public schools.

"We expect substitute teachers to uphold the same high standards of conduct and professionalism as our full-time educators," said Superintendent Frederick Heid in a statement. "The charges against this person are disgraceful and a complete violation of the trust that teachers build with their students. There is no room in our schools for this type of conduct."

According to WFLA, the Polk County school district revised its policy in October, allowing anyone 20 or older with a high school or GED certification to work as a substitute teacher.

Unfortunately, cases like these are not rare in the country, Meaww said. Brittany Zamora, a 27-year-old Arizona teacher, allegedly sent sexually explicit conversations to her 13-year-old student in 2019. She reportedly had intercourse with him in her car, in the classroom in front of another student, and even at the victim's grandparents' house on several occasions.

Jennilynne Derolf, a Pennsylvania teacher's assistant, fatally shot herself in front of the 14-year-old she was accused of sexually assaulting in August. On Jul. 15, 2021, she was arrested at the school on charges of sexually assaulting a youngster.

She faces felony charges of involuntary deviant sexual intercourse, statutory sexual assault, unlawful contact with a juvenile, aggravated indecent assault, and institutional sexual assault, as well as misdemeanor charges of indecent assault and minor corruption.
