There's been a lot of big talk in the past about taking down the undefeated Floyd Mayweather. All 43 challengers have since failed. Through the excess testosterone and heady claims, however, could be a champion. Boxing fans may have to look no further than Canelo Alvarez.

The 22-year-old Mexican has been defeating opponents left and right, also claiming an undefeated title, according to Bleacher Report. He will be the 44th man to try to take on the daunting challenge September 14 at the MGM Grand in Las Vegas. Overconfidence is most likely what brought down previous opponents, but Canelo appears to be cool and collected, ready for anything and prepared to win.

"Obviously it's not good to be overconfident, but you can be confident about your own abilities," Alvarez told reporters. "I'm not underestimating anybody, but you know I feel I'm going to be ready for this fight, and I'm going to be able to do it."

Alvarez may be the shining beacon after all considering he is stronger, younger and bigger than his opponent, even at a catch weight of 152 pounds. Though a formidable adversary in stature, however, he lacks the experience of Mayweather. An environment as intense as that of a Las Vegas fight could crack the young fighter. Canelo said he sees this more as an opportunity to be seized than a prize to be won.

"Of course I'm ready. That's why I've trained so hard," Alvarez said. "I've been waiting for this moment, and I've gotta take advantage. So of course I'm ready."

The two are strikingly different, with Mayweather being flashy and intimidating. Canelo is obviously quieter and less prone to the spotlight. He said of the fight that Mayweather is the man of the hour and definitely one to beat, but he believes himself ready to handle the challenge.

"Everybody knows that Floyd's the best without question," Alvarez said to a crown New York City's Times Square earlier this week. "But this is my time, and we're gonna win."
