Mexican-American singer and actor Irvin Salinas, best known as Pee Wee, was arrested in Texas for driving under the influence (DUI). This marks the second time he has been detained by U.S. authorities for the same offense.

The former Kumbia Kings member, who resides in McAllen, Texas, was taken into custody in Edinburg, a city about 20 minutes from his home. According to local reports, the arrest occurred around 10 p.m. on Sunday, August 11, 2025, when Pee Wee was pulled over by police officers. Authorities determined that his blood alcohol level was above the legal limit, and he was transported to the local police station.

This latest arrest comes just over a year after his first DUI charge. In January 2024, Pee Wee was arrested under similar circumstances and spent 14 hours in custody before being released on a $1,500 bond. Both incidents have attracted media attention, partly because of his history as a teen idol and his continued presence in the Latin music scene.

A bicultural career in music

While Pee Wee has been living in the United States for years, his music career has flourished on both sides of the U.S.-Mexico border. He rose to fame as a member of the original Kumbia Kings under the direction of A.B. Quintanilla, contributing his voice to some of the group's biggest hits before launching a solo career.

In 2024, Pee Wee marked two decades in the music industry, celebrating the milestone with enthusiasm and a renewed connection to his audience. He performed at Ola Fest 2024, where he expressed how happy he was to be back on stage. In interviews, he credited platforms like TikTok for helping him reach both longtime fans and a new generation of listeners.

That same year, he took part in Fiestas de Octubre in Guadalajara, performing classics like Mi dulce niña and Sabes a chocolate. He also surprised fans with a heartfelt rendition of El Rey, paying homage to Mexico's rich musical traditions.

His performances continued into 2025. On January 19, he appeared at the Riverside Municipal Auditorium in Riverside, California, delivering a set that blended nostalgia with fresh energy. Despite recent legal troubles, Pee Wee has maintained an active presence in the music scene, balancing live performances with studio work and engaging with fans on social media.
