"Fuller House" cast members Juan Pablo di Pace and Scott Weinger, who both had recurring roles on the first season of the Netflix reboot, have been promoted to series regulars for Season 2, reports Deadline.

In the series di Pace plays Fernando, who is the inappropriately passionate ex-husband of Kimmy Gibler (Andrea Barber). Fernando is quite the playboy and relentlessly attempts to reunite the spark between himself and his ex-wife. While not an ideal husband, he is a great father maintaining a close relationship with the pairs daughter Ramona (Soni Bringas).

Weinger plays Steve Hale, the role he played in the original ABC series. Initially Hale was D.J.'s (Candace Cameron Bure) first steady boyfriend but the relationship doesn't work out. In the reboot Hale is a podiatrist and D.J.'s ex-boyfriend, who tries to get back with her after his unsuccessful marriage.

Like the original series, the show is set in the same house in San Francisco, California. Recently widowed D.J. Tanner-Fuller is a veterinarian and mother of three sons—the teenaged 13 year-old Jackson (Michael Campion), 7-year-old Max (Elias Harger), and baby Tommy Jr. (Dashiell Messitt and Fox Messitt) After the abrupt death of her husband, Tommy, who was following his hazardous duties as a firefighter, D.J. accepts the help of her sister Stephanie (Jodie Sweetin) and best friend Kimmy to move in and take part in raising her three sons. Kimmy's teenage daughter named Ramona also moves in.

The "Full House" reboot seen the return of most of the original cast, excluding Mary-Kate and Ashley Olsen who shared the role of Michelle Tanner. The Olsen twins ultimately rejected the role because Ashley has not acted in years with no intentions to restart, and Mary-Kate initially considered the part but later declined as it was not feasible with her fashion career at the time. Nonetheless, the producers are still prodding the Olsen twins to return and are confident that one of the twins will decide to reappear during the second season.
