Mexican President Enrique Peña Nieto has released a video defining 2013 as a "year of great transformations" and looking forward to 2014. In a voiceover, the President calls 2013 "the year that Mexico dared to launch." The video was released on the presidential blog and includes images of children, teenagers, indigenous Mexicans and others wishing viewers a happy new year: the video makes a clear statement about the diversity of Mexico's population.

The video opens with a view of the Mexican countryside and then shows a diver launching into the air as the President's voice proclaims 2013 as the year Mexico dared to launch. A young man then says "each year is an opportunity to be better people, to respect and value the diversity in Mexico. Then a young boy with Down syndrome wishes people "Happy New Year." Various young indigenous people are also seen with messages of peace and prosperity for the new year delivered in their own languages.

The video concludes with the President's voice once more saying that "now is the time to grow, let us make history." A final message is written in the sky: "This 2014, lets make reality everything that we reached for in 2013."

The President also wrote on his blog saying "The Mexican Government will work so that the reforms and their benefits will be felt and lived in the lives of all Mexicans." You can read more about the reforms implemented by Peña Nieto's government here.
