While critics are of the opinion that Meghan Markle struck gold by marrying into the British Royal Family as she walked down the aisle with Prince Harry in 2018, statistics prove that the joint finances of the Duke and Duchess of Sussex (minus the Queen’s influence) are approximately $30 million, sans the backing of the Crown.

First things first, Markle, the former “Suits” actress was raking in close to half a million dollars annually during her stint on the U.S-drama. That aside, she drew a five-figure income from her endorsements and deals. Her net worth is roughly estimated to be $5 million.

Moving on to the Duke -- needless to say, Harry was born into wealth. His net worth ranges somewhere around 25 million dollars at the lowest, while analysts believe it could go up to as much as 40 million dollars annually. Coming to the source of the wealth, a report released by Clarence House revealed that about $ 5 million dollars were split among Prince William, Kate Middleton and Prince Harry in the form of an allowance from their father, Prince Charles.

Prince William and Prince Harry have both been recipients of another stream of funding ( $ 4,50,000 a year) from their late mother, Princess Diana’s estate. The amount is subject to being taxable to the U.K government and has been claimed by the royal brothers since the age of 21. Upon crossing 30 years of age, William and Harry amassed a sizeable inheritance of around $10 million each. Harry reportedly drew an annual salary of $50,000 during his decade-old stint at the British Royal Air Force.

The aforementioned amount isn’t part of an annual seven-figure allowance that both the dukes are entitled to, as sons of Prince Charles. The funding comes to Prince Charles, in parts, from a real estate – Duchy of Cornwall – that has been financing the British Royal Family’s public and private expenditure since the past 700 years.

What’s more, it is believed that the estate shelled out $28.8 million to Prince Charles and Camilla between 2016 and 2017.

Interestingly, despite the exorbitant amounts of collective wealth, Harry and Markle decided to forgo the pre-nup as they entered into a wedlock in 2018.
