There are speculations that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex won't be rubbing shoulders with Charles on the balcony of Buckingham Palace when the Prince of Wales ascends the throne.

During the Queen's coronation in 1953, family and maids of honor surrounded the monarch as she waved to huge crowds below the palace. This year, royal sources said it’s likely that only Prince William, Kate Middleton, and their children George, Charlotte, and Louis will be beside the new King as he greets the public, Marie Claire reported.

With the coronation of Charles, 73, and Camilla, 73, due within a year of Charles’ accession, the new King reportedly wants the celebration to be “far cheaper” than Her Majesty's £1.57-million (US$2.13m) ceremony, an equivalent of £46 million (US$62.39m) today.

It was also suggested that the list of guests would be capped to 2,000, with fewer members of the Royal family in attendance.

“It will be a slimmed-down Monarchy on display throughout,” a source said. "I wouldn't be surprised to see just Charles and Camilla, Kate and William, and their children on the Buckingham Palace balcony afterward."

The coronation ceremony comes after the Queen revealed her “sincere wish” for Camilla to be known as the Queen Consort when her son takes to the throne.

The source also said some aspects of the coronation will “reflect modern-day Britain” but it will remain an Anglican service that will offer “more representative of different community groups and faiths,” according to Mirror.

Meanwhile, Charles is believed to have instructed his embattled younger brother Andrew, 61, to keep “out of the line of sight” at Windsor Castle while the sex assault trial brought against him by alleged former sex slave Virginia Giuffre plays out in an American federal court.

Accordingly, there has been no traces of the Duke of York near the castle since his mother stripped him of his military titles last month.

“He has been warned to keep his head down,” said a royal source. “Charles does not want Andrew to be photographed every other day looking happy and waving as he is driven to the castle.”

The Giuffre scandal, which became public three years ago, saw the victim claims that billionaire pedophile Jeffrey Epstein and convicted sex trafficker Ghislaine Maxwell coerced her to have sex with the prince.

Eventually, when Charles becomes King, there are reports the Duke of York and his ex-wife, Sarah Ferguson, would be booted out of their home at Royal Lodge, Page Six noted.
