Heroes gets 'Reborn' by NBC. NBC

"Heroes" is being revived by NBC for a limited 13-episode run, with creator Tim Kring back in the director's chair but with a new cast of characters and a mysterious new storyline. "Heroes" ran from 2006-2010, and it was one of the most popular shows on TV at the time. The series will return in in 2015 as "Heroes Reborn." NBC Entertainment president Jennifer Salke announced the news on Saturday, revealing that, while some of the original cast might have cameos in the series, the new episodes would feature all new faces.

"The enormous impact Heroes had on the television landscape when it first launched in 2006 was eye-opening," said Salke. "Shows with that kind of resonance don't come around often and we thought it was time for another installment. We're thrilled that visionary creator Tim Kring was as excited about jumping back into this show as we were and we look forward to all the new textures and layers Tim plans to add to his original concept."

With average ratings of 14.5 million viewers, "Heroes" was one of the most successful shows in NBC's history, however, ratings dropped sharply after the show's storyline became increasingly convaluted. "Heroes Reborn" will join "24: Live Another Day," due in May, as the latest canceled series to get a limited-run revival. "Until we get closer to air in 2015, the show will be appropriately shrouded in secrecy," said Salke. "But we won't rule out the possibility of some of the show's original cast members popping back in."
