The coming sixth season of "Homeland" will see Rupert Friend return as Peter Quinn in a series regular role.

If you recall, Quinn was last seen near brain dead after losing a battle to recover from a dose of sarin gas and nearly euthanized by Carrie (Claire Danes).

Fans did not think they would see Quinn return and neither did Friend, for that matter. During an Entertainment Weekly "Homeland" panel showrunner Alex Gansa joked to the publication, "I hope he enjoys eating through a tube," before adding, "How [Quinn] is gonna be dramatized this year is going to surprise people, and it may not be what you think."

Furthermore, Friend told the publication that he believes Quinn "will be a changed man and that we'll see a much more intimate and personal side to the mysterious character."

Gansa also mentioned that the decisions made in the previous season will have major repercussions moving forward. The showrunner said, "Quinn really put his life in her [Carrie] hands at the end of the last season and we will hsee what decision she made, how that's going to have repercussions moving forward for her and for the idea of Quinn as well."

Meanwhile, as far as the Season 6 plotline is concerned, the series will be shot in New York City. This is a homecoming for 'Homeland" as the last few seasons were shot abroad. The story will take place during the two month period between Election Day and swearing in the new President of the United States.

"There is this strange period in America where there are 72 days when it’s not exactly clear who’s in charge, and there is a new president that needs to be educated on what it means to be president," Gansa told EW. "That is a very complex transfer of power filled with all kinds of anxiety and different competing interests… it’s a dangerous time in our democracy."
