Prince Charles has been the heir to the throne for almost 70 years now. He was 3 years old when his mother, Queen Elizabeth, became the head of the monarchy. Throughout his years as the heir apparent, Prince Charles was tasked to look after the Duchy of Cornwall.

Life as a royal has not always been easy for the dad of two. But he recently credited Prince William for making the last 50 years of his royal life even more worthwhile.

His comments were made after he heard what Prince William said about taking over the Duchy of Cornwall in the future. The Duke of Cambridge said that he won’t change anything and will simply continue his father’s legacy.

“When I saw it, I couldn’t believe it, I was deeply touched and moved by what he said,” Prince Charles said. “It practically reduced me to tears because I suddenly thought, well, just hearing that from him, has made the last 50 years worthwhile,” he added.

Prince Charles’ relationship with Prince William and Prince Harry was tricky, especially since he was always consumed by his work. Royal experts claimed that he didn’t get to spend as much time with his sons in the same way that he was unable to spend time with Prince Philip while he was growing up.

But during an interview with ITV to celebrate the death anniversary of Princess Diana, Prince Harry said that Prince Charles was always there for them, especially after their mom’s demise. “He tried to make sure we were protected,” Prince Harry said.

However, rumors of an alleged “cold war” between the three male royals haven’t died down. Royal journalist Christopher Anderson previously told Daily Beast that Prince Charles hates it when his sons openly talk about their feelings about the death of the Princess of Wales.

Anderson went on to say that Prince Charles rarely gets to spend time with Prince William and Prince Harry unless it’s for their royal duties. The royal expert added that even though the Duke of Cambridge loves his dad, he doesn’t like to be told what to do. Clarence House has since denied the “cold war” allegations between the royals.
