While Apple announced at Tuesday's iPhone media event that pre-orders for their new iPhone 5C device would begin Friday, September 13, the company did not specify at what time they will begin taking those preorders. Well luckily information from U.S. carriers Verizon and Sprint have indicated that the preorders will go live roughly at midnight Pacific Time on Friday morning. The company did not mention any preorder information for the iPhone 5S during Apple's media event and still no word on if and when they will start preorders for the 5S.
Given that both Apple and their U.S. carrier partners typically begin preorders at he same time and the timing published by Verizon and Sprint is in line with that seen for the past several iPhone releases, this seems likely that the coordinated launch will once again take place at midnight. Apple's preorder timing is likely to be the same everywhere, even in other countries, so potential buyers should check time conversions from Pacific Time.
Verizon's preorder information on the "Why Verizon?" tab of the carriers iPhone 5S and 5C feature page allows potential customers to sign up for email updates on availability of the two new iPhones and states that pre-orders will be going live at 3:01 a.m. ET (12:01 a.m. PT) on September 13, but the page offers no mention of iPhone 5S preorders ahead of its September 20 launch.
Sprint has posted similar information on their website, stating a 2:00 a.m. Central Time launch for the iPhone 5C preorders, which corresponds to midnight PT. Outside the United States, preorders for the iPhone 5c will also be going live on Friday for customers in the following countries: Australia, Canada, China, France, Germany, Hong Kong, Japan, Puerto Rico, Singapore and the UK.
