Colombian urban star J Balvin is known for being quite the prankster. However, a joke he made a couple of weeks ago was not funny AT ALL and in fact, caused controversy after he insulted the women of his native country during a radio talk show.
When asked by Mega 97.9's host if the women from Bogotá are beautiful, the "6 AM" singer said "yes," but signaled "no" with his finger. A video of the incident was leaked, causing a huge outrage amongst his fans, especially the ones from Bogota. As a result, Balvin headed to his social media accounts to apologize for his unnecessary gesture. In a video, he said, "Shout out to all the girls from Bogota; beautiful, mamacitas, pretty, I love you all. I'm always making jokes, this was only another one of them."
This week, Balvin is once again under the spotlight after a comment he left in one of Brenda Zambrano’s Instagram photos. According to the “Acapulco Shore” star, the “reggaetonero” posted: “If you didn’t have a nice body, what would you show us?” The Mexican model, who wasn’t too pleased after reading that, gave her opinion about the situation during an interview with “Suelta La Sopa.”
“If he doesn’t like my pictures then why is he commenting on them, why is he following me? I think it’s very disrespectful because honestly, I’m a big fan of his songs, and I was always posting videos of them. I think that was nasty, it broke my heart. But, oh well, what can you expect from a guy that says bad things about women from his own country.”
J Balvin has yet to address the issue, but Zambrano mentioned she was expecting an apology from the singer, even if it was just a text message.
