Tips For Every Holiday Beauty Occasion. Dragon Images/ Shutterstock

Every holiday outfit needs a beauty routine to match, and celebrity makeup artist Jackie Gomez, who has glammed up the likes of Beyoncé, Candice Swanepole and Kelly Rowland, shared her favorite makeup looks and tips for this season’s festivities.“Before starting any makeup routine, it is important to make sure your skin is smooth and clean,” said Jackie revealing that the one thing they all have in common is proper cleaning and priming of the skin at the outset. “Start with Pixi Glow Tonic to tone and remove dead skin. Next, apply a hydrating serum like Vichy Aqualia Thermal Dynamic Hydration Power Serum. Then apply a moisturizer with SPF—I love the 29 Broad Spectrum SPF 30 D'Vine Day Cream. Lastly, add NYX HD Studio Primer and you’re ready for a day of long-lasting makeup.”

Take a look at Jackie’s tips for tackling the rest of your routine for our favorite events of the season:

1. Holiday Dinner: Play up your eyes and keep your lips minimal—we know there will be a lot of eating! To make your eyes the focus, try the Pixi Natural Contour Kit, which has beautiful soft colors that are perfect for the fall. Browns and natural colors on the eyes and face will give you a glow on this special night spent with family and friends. On your lips, use colors that are soft and natural like those in the Maybelline Lip Gloss Palette. Remember to reapply after dinner!

2. Family Photos: Holiday card photos will be around for years, so it's essential to keep the makeup natural and timeless. I recommend playing up your lips with a strong color like plum or red. The NYX butter gloss in raspberry tart is a beautiful plum color that will make your lips pop. Adding three to five coats of mascara is also a must for eyelashes that look longer and fuller. I love the Pixi Large Lash Mascara! My other advice for making sure you’re photo-ready is to be sure you’re blending your foundation, eye shadows and brush properly. I love Sonia Kashuk’s brushes (like this gorgeous 10-piece holiday set), because they are super soft, come in fun colors and they really blend eye shadow, foundation and all makeup so beautifully!

3. Holiday Party: So many people dread putting on holiday party makeup after a long day at work, but all you really need is a touch-up. One of my favorite day-to-night looks is a cat eye. Use the Pixi Endless Silky Eye Pen to start from the inner corner of the eye and go all the way across the lash line. Once you’ve reached the end of the eye, extend the line out to create a sharp tip at the end. If necessary, use a cotton round to fix or clean up.

4. New Year’s Eve: For New Year’s Eve, I love using colors that are golden, copper, or smoky black. I recommend Maybelline’s limited-edition Dare To Go Nude palette as it has all of these colors and a few more with pure pigment. I also love to add a dash of glitter in the inner corner of the eye to make the eye pop! The gold colors in the Sonia Kashuk Eye Shadow Quads in Bronzed Beauty are my favorite. To top it all off, apply Sonia Kashuk fake eyelashes for a little extra drama.
