It hasn’t been a great offseason for New York Mets relief pitcher Jeurys Familia.

Last month he was arrested in Fort Lee, New Jersey on a domestic violence charge in what has been a very strange and mysterious investigation. Court dates have been rescheduled, and the alleged victim turned out to be his wife, Bianca Rivas. But now, even more details are emerging.

According to NJ.com, Rivas made numerous 911 calls on Oct. 31, the night of the incident, as early as 2:18 a.m. NJ.com has also released the dispatcher’s conversation with Rivas. It reads the following:

"My husband had a little bit of alcohol and he's going crazy," says Rivas, whose identifying information is redacted from the audio recording provided to NJ Advance Media.

"Your husband is drinking and you're in a dispute with him?" the dispatcher asks.

"Yeah. He's drunk," Rivas responds.

This is a very tricky situation because we have the New Jersey legislative process and the powers of Major League Baseball at work. MLB may wait until there is a final ruling before they act, however that could go into next regular season. It is possible for the 27-year-old Dominican pitcher to be suspended to begin the 2017 MLB season. Let’s also not count out what the Mets may do.

Interestingly, the attorney representing Rivas requested that the restraining order be lifted from Familia.

Familia is due back in court on Dec. 15.
