The Philadelphia Eagles and Kansas City Chiefs weren't expected to be major contenders in 2013 mostly due to the fact that both franchises underwent major changes during the offseason. Philly parted ways with long-time head coach Andy Reid after 14 seasons while K.C. said goodbye to their head coach Romeo Crennel. Reid is now the new lead dog in Kansas City and as he prepares to make his return trip to the City of Brotherly Love, the 55-year-old coach his defense will need to be on point against a much different Eagles offense.

Former University of Oregon head coach Chip Kelly replaced Andy Reid as Eagles coach this past January and right from the moment of his arrival, the offensive guru instilled his high-octane offense into the playbook. Utilizing the speed and athleticism of quarterback Michael Vick and playmakers LeSean McCoy and DeSean Jackson, Kelly's offense has hit the 30-point plateau in each of the first 2 games this season, although the Eagles did fall to the San Diego Chargers last week. Entering the match-up 1-1 against Andy Reid's 2-0 Chiefs will certainly be a challenge but the home crowd will undoubtedly support the new regime, something that could cause uneasiness on the Kansas City sideline.

Andy Reid on Return to Philadelphia

"This is about our football team, it's not about me and it's not a one-man show. It has nothing to do with that. That was demonstrated when we had the opportunity to play the Cowboys. That was a team effort. This will take a team effort when we play the Philadelphia Eagles. That's what I believe in and I know."

"We look forward to having the opportunity to play the Philadelphia Eagles. We know they're a good football team. I know its Thursday night, we understand that. It's an electric place to play and our guys are geared up."
