Does Kate Del Castillo have something to hide? According to several publications, the Mexican actress has been asking for unconventional approvals from Federal Judge Augusto Octavio Mejía Ojeda, the authority behind her case.

Del Castillo, who is currently under investigation for agreeing to meet with Joaquín “El Chapo” Guzmán while he was still a fugitive, recently requested for an order that allows her to have access to all official information gathered about her, and her connection to the Sinaloa Cartel leader.

The telenovela star’s lawyers previously stated that their client’s main reason behind these demands, which are believed to be absurd for some, is to stop the press from leaking federal findings just because she is a public figure and the scandal has gained notoriety in other countries as well.

Last month, the 43-year-old actress failed to be present at a court hearing in her native Mexico for the second time, and asked her lawyers to pen another plea to protect all documents already filed by the PGR (Procuraduría General de Justicia).

TVyNovelas reports both appeals are currently pending. And taking into consideration the Judge’s previous statements on the matter, it doesn’t look like the odds will favor Del Castillo’s demands.

“The document lacked precision and was non-argumentative,” Mejía Ojeda declared regarding Del Castillo’s petition.

Official reports disclose Judge Mejía Ojeda will announce his final decision on all requests on May 25.

“La Reina del Sur” protagonist talked about her encounter with the kingpin, who was named “the most wanted man” by the city of Chicago, for the first time in March 2016. In her interviews, Del Castillo denied ever receiving money from Guzmán, not for her tequila brand, not for the alleged biopic she is planning to produce about the drug lord’s life, and the original motive behind this scandal.
