Kate Middleton and Meghan Markle, along with their royal husbands, Prince William and Prince Harry, are among the most visible members of the British royal family. Sadly, various media outfits have been reporting some sort of conflict between the duchesses. And with the frequency of these types of reports, even longtime royal family fans are confused if there’s some truth to the story or whether they’re mere speculations.

For instance, someone posted the interesting question “Why is Kate Middleton being hostile towards Meghan?” on the Q&A site Quora. Based on the responses from the site’s users, fans have a diverse range of opinions regarding the two duchesses.

There are those who believe that the query’s premise is, in fact, inaccurate. Kate might not be very close to her sister-in-law, but that doesn’t mean she hates her.

“I don't think she is being hostile at all,” wrote Quora user Denise Tanner in response. “What evidence do you have for saying this? Yes, Catherine is reserved but how did you expect her to relate to Meghan. They have very different roles, personalities and interests. Being sisters in law does not mean they have to be best buddies.”

On the other hand, there are those who believe that there is indeed a rift between the two duchesses. And the reason might be, surprisingly, the Sussexes’ preference for having only two kids.

“It didn’t go down well with Catherine when Harry announced they would be having only two children,” Graham Short wrote. “We can be sure Meghan put him up to this, to take a swipe at Catherine, who already has three children.”

Meanwhile, there are those who are nonplussed about the Duchess of Cambridge’s supposed hostility. A Quora user, who’s probably not a big fan of either duchess or the royal family as a whole, opined that it’s to be expected from a member of the family.

“Wth all the royal family it’s the same, the all bicker and secretly hate each other,” Kerri Copeland wrote. “They are know for their squabbling and backstabbing of each other. Kate an Meghan are no different.”

Interestingly, some fans already noticed that the British media is a bit too obsessed with Kate and Meghan and its tendency to report on the supposed feud. “It sells papers,” Gwendolyn Hendrix McGregor Scherer wrote.

“It isn’t in their interest to report a relationship that is good, especially between two women. All you have to do is say ‘catfight’ and everybody wants to see it.”
