Prince William once left Kate Middleton in limbo, and Kate’s mother, Carole Middleton, didn’t like it. In an interview, a royal expert revealed how much Kate struggled as her life came to a standstill following Prince William’s reluctance to marry her.

Prince William and Kate had been together for almost 10 years before Prince William proposed to Kate. However, Kate didn’t have to wait for the royal wedding to feel the pressures of being married to a royal.

As soon as Prince William’s relationship with Kate reached the media, she started to deal with the increasing public interest in her. For someone who lived most of her life away from the spotlight, it was difficult for Kate to adjust to the royal fishbowl kind of life. Unfortunately, Prince William only made things more difficult for her when he left her in limbo.

According to royal expert Katie Nicholl, the circumstances forced Kate to hold back from the things she wanted to do because of the unwanted public interest in her. Despite having been in a relationship with Prince William for years at that time, Prince William was showing no signs of proposing to her and formally giving her a royal life.

Nicholl has revealed how this bothered Carole, who was reportedly not impressed by how Prince William was treating Kate. Kate’s mother was particularly concerned about Kate’s future ahead of her engagement to Prince William because the prince’s apparent reluctance left Kate waiting for something uncertain.

“Carole is concerned that Kate’s life has come to a bit of a standstill,” she said. “She says Kate can’t get on and do normal things because of the public interest in her. She’s of the opinion privately that William should make an honest woman out of her, so that she isn’t left waiting in limbo,” she added.

Carole’s worries for her daughter only ended when Prince William finally proposed to Kate in October 2010 in Kenya. It wasn’t until the following month that the news was announced to the media, so it gave both Prince William and Kate Middleton enough time to relish their engagement privately.
