More drifts, more jumps, MOAR slo-mo!! Yes, the latest installment of Gymkhana is finally here.
Ripping through the streets of San Fransisco, Ken Block burned through 40 sets of tires over a period of four days to produce what is probably the best 9 minutes of automotive cinematography ever seen.
Let's go over the specs one more time. 650-hp and over 600 lb.-ft. of torque are sent to four wheels via a tiny 2.0 liter turbocharged powerplant built by Pipo Moteurs coupled to a 6-speed Sadev sequential transmission. 0-to-60 mph is done in an incomprehensible 1.8 seconds. In a nutshell, Ken Block's Ford H.F.H.V. Fiesta is what happens to a standard Ford Fiesta hatchback if it raided a meth lab and hot railed the loot.
Ever upping the ante, Ken drifts around every single SF icon or landmark save Alcatraz and even invites wild man Travis Pastrana to pop a smoking wheelie for Ken to drift around.
"San Francisco was absolutely amazing for Gymkhana," said Block. "It's such a unique location for this kind of driving and allowed me to do some things that I never thought I'd ever be able to incorporate into one of my Gymkhana videos-like jumping a table top or doing a jump drift! I'm stoked with how this project turned out and I'm truly a lucky bastard to have been able to do the things I was able to do on the streets of San Francisco. To all of the residents and people who allowed us to make this happen, thank you!"
You've most likely watched Ken Block's Gymkhana 5 at least 10 times since this morning but did you really have enough? Didn't think so. Do yourself a favor and watch it again (yes, that was Ken Block... sideways... in mid-air). Also, check out these awesome stills. Enjoy!
