After the relationship with her first husband faltered, a woman divorced the man with whom she had a nine-year-old son to marry her father-in-law.

The 31-year-old stay-at-home mum, Erica Quiggle of Kentucky, divorced her factory worker husband, Justin Towell, and married his 60-year-old father, Jeff Quiggle.

After a 6-year-long relationship, the couple in 2017 made their love public. In August 2018, Eric and Jeff tied the knot after they had a daughter, now 2-year-old Brexlee.

Erica had known Jeff since she was 16. "It sounds scandalous, but we had this love we could not deny," she told during an interview given to local media.

"Despite everything, our relationship now is perfect."

"Jeff is the young soul and I’m the old soul. He laughs when I say that, but it all worked out – and Justin was the most understanding person," Erica said.

Meanwhile, Jeff says he has found his soulmate in Erica.

"We really enjoy each other the way we are and we’re going to enjoy the time we have," he said.

"We’ve never looked at the age difference – we just fell in love the way we are."

Erica shares custody of her son with Justin, who is now married to another woman. He continues to live in the same close-knit community.

He and his mother, Jeff’s first wife, now wishes the couple well.

"Everything’s all good now between us," Justin said.

"There’s no hatred there anymore. We talk about our son and we’re both moving on with our lives."

Erica said she married Justin when she was 19.

"I met up with him and we went on a date and for some reason getting married seemed like the right thing to do," she said.

"His family and my family said we needed to do it and that we were perfect for each other."

However, their relationship began to crumble after 2011 and even the birth of their son was not enough to keep them together, Erica said.

Following the marital problems, Erica and Jeff began to confide in each other.

"There came a point when I broke down about Justin and said I couldn’t do it anymore," Erica admitted.

"I felt like I was stuck."

She finally confessed her feelings to Justin and was amazed by his understanding response, she said.

"I had a deep conversation with him about how I did not want to hurt him, but I told him mine and Jeff’s love was so strong that we couldn’t give each other up," she said.

"He was being so supportive and said, 'If you love somebody you love them and you can’t help who you love.'"

"Living together was the best thing ever," she said.

"Everyone argues, but it was just peaceful. We spent all our time together, we went on trips, he took me places."

"We found the house of our dreams, which we’ve been fixing up for a few years – then I ended up getting pregnant with Brexlee."

Jeff said he is delighted that Erica had made his dream of becoming a father again come true.

"I’m going to have a great retirement doing all these things with my daughter," he said.

"The age difference between me and Erica doesn’t bother us." "People mostly think I’m in my forties anyway!"
