According to The Gamer's Drop, this unofficial news started when an apparent Square Enix 'insider' started leaking to the public that Kingdom Hearts 3 release date was already set in Spring 2014. Other reports contradict this statement of an early 2014 release.

Enix Origins reports that the statement of a Spring 2014 release is "absurd." Denis Advic from Enix Origin wrote, "There is absolutely no way Kingdom Hearts 3 will be released in 2014 due to the fact that it is in extremely early stages of development."

Advic also adds that Tetsuya Nomura, the game director of Kingdom Hearts 3 is "taking the time to promote the new Final Fantasy XV, a game he wanted to create for the longest time."

In addition to that Nomura said in an interview in June that the announcement of "Kingdom Hearts 3" might have been premature.

"Since the release of Kingdom Hearts II, I believe that many fans were feeling impatient due to our continuous releases of spin-off titles, so we decided to announce it at the same time as Final Fantasy XV. However, looking at the current development status, I think we may have announced it a little too early."

"Kingdom Hearts 3" will be set after the 3DS title "Kingdom Hearts 3D Dream Drop Distance" that was released in 2012. The next installment of the game is also rumored to be the final title for the "Dark Seeker" saga.

The game will be available for next-generation gaming consoles like Sony PS4 and Xbox One.
