A lucky couple from Missouri reportedly won their second lottery jackpot in recent years and took home a $3-million lottery prize from a “Big Riches” scratcher.

The lucky couple, who asked not to be named, reportedly purchased the winning ticket at the Short Stop Convenience Shop in their native Washington County while they were picking up groceries.

After they bought the ticket, they scratched it off inside the store and realized that they had won. Surprisingly, this is the second time that the lucky couple has clinched a lottery jackpot. The couple reportedly won a $250,000 lottery prize a few years ago, FOX2now reported.

“What are the odds to win two in one lifetime?” asked cashier Abi Schrum, who sold the scratcher to the lucky couple.

“There were tears of joy everywhere,” Schrum said.

In a similar but unrelated incident, a Spokane couple reportedly won their second lottery prize in April earlier this year, KXLY-TV reported.

The couple, Henry Dohler and his wife Gloria, who regularly buy their tickets at the Shadle Park Safeway, have now won the lottery jackpot twice. The couple, who reportedly won a $100,000 prize in April this year, also clinched a lottery prize amounting to $20,000 back in 2010.

Dohler, a retiree from Western States Equipment, reportedly starts his day with a cup of coffee while reading a newspaper, buying a few lottery tickets, and checking the previous day's lottery results.

“On Tuesday, I checked the tickets I had bought Monday and I won a free ticket. On Wednesday, I bought my usual tickets and got my free one, too," he said.

Dohler checked these tickets the next day and realized that the stubs did not win any prize. However, he remembered that he had the free ticket and checked the numbers on the stub against the numbers in the paper. The free ticket ended up making Dohler and his wife $100,000 richer.

“It’s like the saying goes, sometimes the best things in life are free. I had to check the ticket three times to make sure that I won,” he said. “I just couldn’t believe it, I actually felt myself getting flushed like my temperature was rising… but for a good reason.”

Dohler plans to spend the lottery winnings traveling to the East Coast to meet his family.
