Man Chews Off Ear Of 78-Year-Old Man After Mistaking Him For A Robot

A man allegedly chewed off the ear of a 78-year-old man on a light-rail train platform near Portland, Oregon after mistaking the victim for a robot on Tuesday, Jan. 3.

Police officers and deputies in Portland, Oregon responded to a light rail platform in Gresham at around 2 a.m. on Tuesday, Jan. 3 after a 911 caller said they could see a lot of blood and an attacker on top of a victim. When the officers responded to the scene, they found Koryn Daniel Kraemer, 25, on top of the victim attacking him, NBC News reported.

The officers reportedly used force to remove Kraemer from the victim and the victim was taken to a hospital for immediate treatment. The victim’s right ear was bitten off in the attack and part of his skull was visible. He was sedated but in stable condition.

According to the officers, the suspect initially gave his name as El Baker, and he was booked into jail under that name. However, Multnomah County jail staff later identified the man as Kraemer, who had recently moved to Portland from Georgia.

When questioned about the attack, Kraemer told a detective that he consumed alcohol, marijuana, and fentanyl pills before the attack. Kraemer said that he could tell by how the victim smelled that he was a robot and added that the robot was trying to kill him. He also told police he spit the flesh onto the ground.

Kraemer was charged with second-degree assault in connection with the incident and is being held in custody without bail.

In a similar but unrelated incident, a man allegedly thrashed and chopped off a 15-year-old boy's ears after finding him alone with his daughter in his house in Tinsukia, Assam, India on Monday, July. 18, 2022, as previously reported.

On Monday, July. 18, 2022, the suspect reportedly found the 15-year-old victim spending time with his daughter in his home. The accused suspected the boy of being in a relationship with his teenage daughter, and in a fit of rage, brutally thrashed the boy before incapacitating the victim and then tying both his hands and legs. The father allegedly proceeded to sever the teen boy's ears.

After chopping the boy's ears, the girl's father then called the police station and claimed that he had caught the victim while he was trying to rob his house.

The boy was first rushed to a local doctor who tried to stitch back his ears. However, when the bleeding did not stop, he was later transferred to Dr. Bora’s Nursing and Maternity Home, a private nursing home at Rupai Siding, where doctors stitched the boy's ears back.

When the police questioned the boy regarding the incident and his injuries, he narrated the entire ordeal. Following this, based on an FIR (First Information Report) filed by the victim's mother, the girl's father was arrested and charged under section 326 (voluntarily causing grievous hurt by dangerous weapons) of the Indian Penal Code.
