Singer Shakira welcomed the New Year, but it seems like she still had her ex on her mind while writing her new Instagram post.

The 45-year-old and Gerard Piqué, 35, announced their split in June 2022 after being together for 11 years, reported Mirror. Now the Colombian singer, who shares sons Milan, nine, and Sasha, seven, with the former Barcelona player appeared to take a dig at their split in her new Instagram post.

She took to Instagram on New Year's Day to ring in 2023, and suggested that she had been "betrayed." She found it hard to "trust others." Shakira wrote that even if "someone has betrayed us, we must continue to trust others."

She wrote that when faced with contempt, continue to know your worth because there are "more good people than indecent ones." She shared that "our tears are not in vain, they water the soil our future will spring from and make us more human, so that even while suffering heartache we can continue to love."

After the singer and the footballer announced their separation, Pique was clicked with his arm around 23-year-old Clara Chia Marti. He and Barcelona-born Marti are said to have met at his firm Kosmos, where she works. Shakira, on the other hand, denied claims that she was dating surfer Gorka Ezkurdia after they were seen together near the Spanish city of Santander, reported The Sun.

Apart from her new Instagram post, she came up with a track, called "Monotonia." It had references to "narcissism" and "cold as Christmas" attitude of a mystery man. The video for the song featured her sobbing in a supermarket.

Shakira and Pique met when he was training in Madrid before the World Cup 2010 in South Africa. They never got married, but they did have two sons. There were reports that claimed that Pique, who recently announced his retirement from football, allegedly cheated on Shakira. The former couple appeared in court a few weeks ago over the custody of their children and their house. After a 12-hour meeting with lawyers, the former lovers eventually reached a custody settlement. Shakira is now reportedly set to move to Miami with her sons.
