A Pennsylvania man has been accused of killing his father with a crossbow by shooting an arrow into the victim's chest before proceeding to commit suicide at their home in Mount Joy Township, Lancaster County on Wednesday night, Sept. 29.

On Wednesday, at around 9 p.m., Wesley Frey Jr., 31, allegedly shot his father Wesley Frey Sr., 61, in anger with a crossbow after a heated domestic dispute at their residence on the 1200 block of Wissler Lane, ABC27 reported.

Law enforcement rushed to the crime scene after they were alerted by a family member who witnessed the incident. Officers from multiple departments, as well as Pennsylvania State Police, secured the perimeter around the home and warned neighbors to stay in their houses.

After the troopers secured the perimeter, they noticed Frey Sr. laying on the floor inside the home severely injured from an arrow that was shot into his chest. Officers broke the back door of the house open and tried to provide medical aid to Frey Sr., but he was declared dead at the scene.

Family members told the officers that Frey Jr. intended to commit suicide with woodworking tools that were in the upstairs room. When officers tried to establish contact with Frey Jr., they found that he had barricaded the upstairs door shut by pushing furniture against it, Penn Live reported.

After numerous attempts to get to Frey Jr., they entered the room to find that he had already killed himself.

A further investigation into the incident is underway.

In a similar but unrelated incident, a man allegedly murdered his father by slitting his throat with a knife and also attempted to kill his mother over a property dispute at Tekkalipalem village under Sabbavaram police station limits in Visakhapatnam district on Sept. 13.

The accused, G. Appa Rao along with his wife and son, frequently quarreled with his father G. Swamy Naidu, 75, over the possession of a piece of agricultural land.

On Sept, 13, while Naidu and his wife were working on their farm, Rao allegedly attacked his father with a sharp-edged weapon and killed him on the spot. After murdering his father, Rao proceeded to kill his mother by choking the elderly woman in a field with the help of his wife and two sons. When the woman lost consciousness, Rao and his family left the field thinking that she died, the Hindu reported.

However, the woman was found alive by the villagers and was taken to a hospital for treatment.

Police have reportedly taken Rao and his family members into custody in connection with the incident.
