In the new ITV documentary that's making rounds, Meghan Markle revealed that her friends were not in favor of her marrying Prince Harry.

The couple first met in 2016 after being introduced by their mutual friend and quickly hit it off. In fact, shortly after their first date, Harry took Markle to Botswana, which is exceptionally special to him. It was in 2017 that the couple decided to make their relationship public when they were spotted holding hands during the Invictus Games in Toronto. Two months later, they announced their engagement to the world and finally tied the knot in May 2018 at Windsor Castle.

But all wasn't well even during their courtship as several of Meghan's friends had warned her against marrying into the royal family. They warned her that she would be under intense and harsh scrutiny for being (1) a relative stranger to the English public and (2) for simply marrying Prince Harry.

In her latest interview with ITV, Meghan shares, "When I first met my now-husband, my friends were really happy because I was so happy. But my British friends said to me, 'I'm sure he's great, but you shouldn't do it, because the British tabloids will destroy your life."

She further added, "And I very naïvely... I'm American, we don't have that there... [said], 'What are you talking about? That doesn't make any sense...' I didn't get it." Although Markle knew it wasn't going to be easy, she is trying her best.

She ended her interview on a positive note, saying "The good thing is I've got my baby, and I've got my husband, and they're the best."
