Meghan Markle’s Instagram is bad news for Kate Middleton. It could also jeopardize royal harmony very soon.

Just days after Meghan and Prince Harry announced that they already have their own social media account, the royal couple managed to break a record by garnering the greatest number of following within hours. The success of Sussex Royal could trigger problems with the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

At present, Kensington Palace’s Instagram account has 7.4 million followers. The social media platform will be used for Prince William and Kate’s professional and personal engagements.

Royal correspondent Roya Nikkhah told The Sunday Times that two competing social media accounts could risk the harmony within the royal family. She said that it could also cause expected grief back home. For Nikkhah, pitting the Sussexes against the Cambridges in a popularity contest would only cause headaches later on.

Meanwhile, the two separate social media accounts could also heighten rumors about an alleged feud between Meghan and Kate. The two female royals have been pitted against each other for months. Previous reports even claimed that Meghan made Kate cry during Princess Charlotte’s dress fitting.

A royal insider recently said that the two women shouldn’t be compared with each other because their status and roles are very different. While speaking with Daily Mail, the source emphasized the fact that Kate is married to Prince William.

Kate will one day become queen or queen consort when Prince William becomes king. Meghan, on the other hand, will not likely be given the role as Prince Harry is unlikely to become king.

The source also said that even though all eyes are on the Duke and Duchess of Sussex because of their baby, all the attention will eventually die down and return to the Cambridge children, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis.

When Prince William and Kate’s children grow up, they will take part in important roles for the royal family. Prince George will also become king one day, and until he has children of his own, Princess Charlotte will be his successor. As such, Prince George, Princess Charlotte and Prince Louis are said to be the core of the royal family.
