Meghan Markle has been accused of being wasteful after she reportedly did something that Kate Middleton would never do. Last year, the Duchess of Sussex visited the Republic of Ireland on an official duty alongside Prince Harry. After they arrived in Dublin, Meghan was praised for wearing a green ensemble, which matched the country’s national color.

However, it was revealed that royal fans became disappointed at Meghan when they found out how much her attire cost. In the documentary “Harry And Meghan: The First 100 Days,” royal correspondent Dickie Arbiter said that the green ensemble cost £28,000 or approximately $36,881.

“They are going to have to rein in on the extravagance,” Arbiter said. “If it is good enough for the Queen to recycle clothes then it must be good enough for Meghan,” Arbiter added.

Fashion and lifestyle blogger Juliet Angus compared Meghan from Kate and said that wearing a pricey attire for a 48-hour tour is something that the Duchess of Cambridge will never do. “Dior, Givenchy, Emilia Wickstead in one day?” she thought. “That is one expensive bill to pay … Is this the princess we should prepare ourselves for? I don’t think this is something Kate would do.”

Royal author Duncan Larcombe said that it wasn’t surprising to hear negative reactions after Meghan’s outing since she wore a series of outfits in a day that was more than the average annual salary in the United Kingdom.

Meanwhile, Meghan’s trip to Ireland was not the only time that she was accused of being wasteful. Earlier this year, royal fashion experts Unidentified Fashion Objects (UFO NO More) calculated how much the “Suits” alum spent on clothing in 2018 alone.
