Meghan Markle’s renewal of the trademark of her previous website, “The TIg,” had people thinking she is planning to relaunch it. But no, a palace spokesperson debunked all these speculations.

The Duchess of Sussex’s business manager Andrew Meyer recently filed some documents in the United States so that the former “Suits” actress can keep her rights on “The Tig,” her now-defunct lifestyle blog. She will maintain her rights until 2021.

Naturally, this made people think she’s going to be relaunching her soon. At the same time, “Tigtots” was also trademarked, further prompting even more to think that she’s brewing up something online soon, probably s spin-off lifestyle blog based on being a mom.

However, a place spokesperson already told People magazine that all these talks and speculations are mere rumors. Instead, the trademark was an act of protection against harm that the site can potentially bring the Duchess and the palace.

“The lasting trademark is to prevent false branding, to avoid others purporting to be the Duchess or affiliated with her,” the spokesperson says.

Of course, the palace cannot be any more careful.

It can be remembered that “The Tig” was started way back in 2014. It was where the actress-turned-princess used to share her favorite food and travel discoveries. She also added some personal reflections here and there during the time, which her readers loved. “The Tig” was inspired by the Italian name “Tignanello.”

However, in 2017, she was compelled to announce its closing, which was the time her relationship with Prince Harry was blossoming. She said it was time to say goodbye to the “passion project” that became an amazing vehicle of “inspiration, support fun, and frivolity.”

She told her readers that they made her days brighter and encouraged them to “keep laughing and taking risks, and keep being ‘the change you wish to see in the world.” She asked everyone to continue practicing self-love, something she has been an advocate of ever since.
