In a heart-wrenching video, a weeping daughter is seen fighting her mother to give water to her dying father who had been shunned by the villagers after he tested positive for Covid-19. The man died sometime later.

The shocking incident happened in the Srikakulam village of Andhra Pradesh, India.

50-year-old Asiranaidu was a worker in the city of Vijayawada. He had returned to his village after he and his family tested positive for coronavirus. However, the residents did not let the family enter the village. They were forced to stay in a hut outside the village.

In the video, Asiranaidu is seen lying on the ground, gasping for breath. His 17-year-old daughter is seen sobbing as she tried to take a bottle of water to her father while being held back by her mother.

A villager who captured the video is heard saying to the family they can approach the man as they had also tested positive.

The daughter then runs to her father and pours some water into his mouth. Asiranaidu breathed his last in front of his daughter and wife.

As the video pans around, many villagers are seen watching the man die from a distance. Apparently, none of the onlookers came to the man’s rescue.

The incident happens at a time when the country is facing a massive shortage of medical oxygen and hospital beds. More than dozens have died in the country over the past few weeks due to the lack of medical facilities.

As the number of Covid positive patients is increasing day by day, the government seems clueless in tackling the pandemic. The Indian government has requested international assistance to help fight the current situation.

India recorded more than 44,000 active cases and 4,096 deaths on Wednesday, May 5.

In a similar video that went viral on social media, a young man is seen pleading to the police to not take away his mother’s oxygen cylinder. The incident happened at the Upadhyay Hospital in the city of Agra, India.

The young man alleged that the police were taking away their mother's oxygen cylinder to save the life of a "VIP". The man’s mother died hours later.
